Five Exciting Electric Motorcycles For 2019

There’s no doubt about it, electric motorcycles appear to be the next wave of innovation in the motorcycle industry. This doesn’t mean that the trend has caught on everywhere. In a way, the motorcycle community seems to be divided when it comes to their ideas of what the future of the industry is going to entail.
In fact, some riders are still incredibly skeptical when it comes to electric vehicles. But whether you’re into them or not, it is difficult to deny that the age of the electric motorcycle may be coming upon us faster than we think.
Compared to how recent these innovations are, the leaps that electric motorcycle manufacturers have made in the last decade are truly impressive. Electric bikes are quickly moving from the territory of novelty concept right on to the mainstream showrooms. In fact, current projects state that by 2024 55 million electric motorcycles will be sold on the market.
Whether you’re interested in purchasing a new motorcycle, or you’re just curious about the different models that are out there at the moment, we have you covered! Read on for five of the most exciting electric motorcycles on the market today.
Livewire 2020
Harley-Davidson’s answer to the electric motorcycle question made waves in the industry after the introduction in January of this year. The Livewire 2020 is scheduled to hit dealership floors in the fall of 2019. Pre-orders began earlier this year, and the reactions to the bike have been mixed, to say the least.
Though the prospects of an electric bike with the power of a Harley is certainly appealing to a big group of people, there are more than a few naysayers. There are two areas where the Livewire has been lambasted, it’s price and it’s range.
At nearly $30,000 starting price, a Livewire is simply not within the realm of possibility for the very demographic who tends to embrace electric vehicles, young adults. With millennials with less purchasing power than their predecessors, they simply do not have the resources to drop 30k on a motorcycle.
Finding their audience may prove to be a bit of a challenge for Harley. For now, we will just have to wait and see how the enigmatic bike performs on the market.
Zero FSX 2018
Beginning all the way back in 2006, Zero Motorcycles has been one of the leaders in the electric motorcycle game since they came on the scene. Starting from a relative nobody out of a garage in Santa Cruz, California, they have grown to become one of the foremost leaders in the electric motorcycle scene. When a bike is named after a land speed record, you know you are in for one hell of a ride. This model is not messing around, it is capable of going 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds and 0-100 mph in 5.5 seconds!

With all of that power and speed, you’re going to have to shell out quite a bit of cash. The model currently goes for around $38,888 to $46,888, depending on which battery option you chose. However, it is fully street legal and by far one of the coolest electric motorcycles on the market right now!
