8 Wild Motorcycle Events To Look Forward To In 2019

As we get revved up for another season of riding, most riders are probably looking forward to a variety of different motorcycle events to attend in the upcoming months.

Lucky for us, the upcoming motorcycle season appears to have a lot in store for motorcycle riders across the country. So, whether your bike has been trapped in the garage for the past few months or you’ve been riding all year, the next few months are sure to be filled with a motorcycle event for everyone.

Thunder Beach: May 1st – 5th

Sunny Panama City Beach, Florida boasts one of the best rallies in the South. This rally is free to attend and features. Three different motorcycle contests will be held including Baddest Bagger, Best of Thunder Beach Custom Bikes and Best LED Custom Bike. Beautiful bikes, beautiful beaches, live music, and good food, what more could you ask for?

Myrtle Beach Bike Week: May 10th – 19th

When it comes to stunning views, it’s hard to beat the coasts of South Carolina. This is part of what has had motorcycle riders flocking to Myrtle Beach Bike Week since 1940.

This is one of the biggest rallies in the country, with an estimated attendance of around 275,000 people. Riders enjoy bike shows, incredible food vendors, cruising daycations to nearby towns, and much more.   

Laconia Motorcycle Week: June 8th – June 16th

This event has the distinction of being the oldest motorcycle rally in the United States. Beginning in the early 1900s, Laconia remains one of the most quintessential American motorcycle events 96 years on.

Laconia Motorcycle Week draws in riders from around the country to the beautiful New Hampshire countryside around Father’s Day weekend. Though there are new traditions all the time, a few of the classics have been brought back in recent years. One of these being the iconic “hill climb”, where motorcyclists try their luck attempting to summit a near vertical hillside.  

The usual hallmarks of motorcycle rallies are also abound in the form of bike shows, swap meets, charity rides, and poker runs. This makes for a week of fun celebrating with riders from across all areas and walks of life.

Hogrock: June 13th – 16th

Dubbed the “Hottest Little Party in the Midwest”, this adults-only event is located in Cave In Rock, Illinois, on the banks of the Ohio River. You have to be at least 18 to enter the festival, and a quick look at the events will show you why.

Entertainment options include helicopter rides, a live DJ, free mechanical bull rides, and even a clothing-optional swimming hole. There are also a ton of music options, giving the event the feel of a music festival specifically for bikers.

Heads up though, the event is BYOB. Be sure to stock up at one of the neighboring towns before settling in. Still, with just a little preparation and a great camping spot, you can easily keep the party going all weekend!

Republic of Texas Biker Rally: June 13th – 16th

Held at the Travis County Exposition Center in Austin Texas, the ROT Rally is celebrating its 24th consecutive year in 2019. One of the most notable events is the bike parade through downtown Austin, which closes off almost 50 city blocks.

In addition to the usual motorcycle rally events, ROT will also be AMA Supermoto, the Rotten Tattoo Expo, and a ton of food courts. Aside from all of the motorcycle action, the rally hosts plenty of top caliber music acts. Past performers include the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Jr, Joan Jett, Willie Nelson, and more! If you’re going to be Austin this June, the ROT is a can’t miss experience.

Sturgis: August 2nd – 11th

Of course, no run-down of motorcycle events worth its salt would be complete without mentioning the largest motorcycle event in the country. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally began back in 1938. It had to take a break for a few years due to World War II, but it has been going consistently since 1944.

This year is the 79th annual rally, and it’s sure to be a memorable one. With musical acts like Keith Urban, Styx, Godsmack, Toby Keith, and more, there will be no shortage of opportunities to take in some killer music. There is also numerous bike shows, excellent food, and some of the most knowledgeable motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the country.

Whether you’re riding through the Black Hills on a guided tour or window shopping for your dream motorcycle, any diehard rider should try their best to make it out to the world’s most iconic motorcycle rally.

Bikes, Blues, & BBQ: September 25th – 28th

Known as the “Rumble in the Ozarks”, this event brings in riders to the Northwest of Arkansas. What sets this rally apart from the others is its commitment to charity. In fact, it has been billed as the largest US Charity Rally.

Since 2000, the event has brought in over $2,000,000 for local non-profits. So if you’re looking to kick back with fellow bikers, eat some delicious food, and throw your support behind a great cause, this event is perfect for you.

Biketoberfest: October 17th – 20th

Sometimes referred to as the “little brother” of Daytona Bike Week. This event takes place in Daytona, Florida around the second week of October. This event usually brings in around 125,000 motorcyclists to Daytona Beach.

Similar to Bike Week in the spring, Biketoberfest includes a long weekend of motorcycle shows, rallies, scenic rides, and races at famous Daytona International Speedway. If you missed out on Bike Week this year, or if you’re looking for round two, Biketoberfest is your chance to ride!
