Spring has finally sprung for the majority of the country, prompting motorcyclists to finally emerge from their garages after a long winter. With the return of warm weather, chances are you’re anxious to get back in the saddle and go for a refreshingly long ride.

If you’d like to take it one step further, why not plan for a road trip to kick off the next riding season? Spring is an ideal time of the year to plan for a trip. With milder temperatures and fewer crowds than the summer months, a springtime road trip is something that everyone should get to experience at least once in their life.

Beartooth Highway: Montana/Wyoming

If you’re looking for scenic views, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more visually stunning route than the Beartooth highway. Winding its way through southwest Montana and northern Wyoming, this iconic road leads features dramatic elevation changes and leads you right into the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park.

As you drive through one of the most breathtaking areas of the country, you’ll be treated to vast landscapes and the sprawling mountains of the Rockies. Elevation on this route is very steep, so be sure to check the weather conditions and bring supplies in case of sudden, severe weather.  

Hana Highway: Hawaii

Experience paradise on top of your motorcycle while riding on the Hana Highway in Maui. Stretching nearly 65 miles across lush, tropical rainforest, this ride is seriously out of this world beautiful.

Passing through ocean views and towering waterfalls, it will be difficult to not fall in love with this road through paradise.

Phoenix to The Grand Canyon: Arizona

Few experiences can compare to riding across the American Southwest, and the trip from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon is one of the most impressive. Although it’s not a particularly long trip (roughly three hours) you can easily stretch out your trip to a week or more. If you find yourself traveling along this route, you don’t want to miss Great Smoky Mountain National Park. With all of the wildflowers in bloom and warming temperatures, springtime is an idyllic times to visit the Smokies.  

A quick word of caution, with treacherous curves and a ton of cars filled with tourists, careful riding is a must for your safety and well-being. Be sure to wear your helmet, and never exceed the speed limit.

Pacific Coast Highway: California

Traveling down the Pacific Coast Highway is easily one of the most beautiful rides you can take anywhere in the world. Stretching nearly 600 miles along California’s elongated coast, the PCH has something for everyone.

US Route 50: 11 States

If you’re up for a lengthy road trip, then a few weeks riding US Route 50 may be in the cards for you. This coast to coast route covers nearly 3,000 miles and passes through 11 states. This route is an excellent opportunity to take in the vastness and the geographical diversity of the United States.

Though it’s colloquially known as America’s Loneliest Road, it can be an excellent opportunity to connect with a friend, partner, or group. Though 3,000 miles provides the time and length to reflect and spend some time with yourself.

The Tail of the Dragon: Tennessee, North Carolina

The Tail of the Dragon route is one of the most well-known and well-traveled among motorcyclists, and for good reason. This iconic route features 11 miles complete with 318 curves and proudly calls itself America’s Best Motorcycle Road.

If you’re looking for a relaxing drive to take in the local scenery, this one may not be for you. With so many curves, this road requires your constant attention and your best riding.

Badlands: South Dakota

The Badlands are one of the most hauntingly beautiful areas of America, and a spring road trip on a motorcycle can be one of the best ways to take it all in. One of the best routes is to start in Rapid City, the largest city in South Dakota. From there, you Then make your way to Mount Rushmore. Rounding off the road trip with a visit to the Badlands National Park.
